My Background
in a nutshell

As a former student-athlete at Villanova University, a professional athlete competing for Nike, New Balance, and Reebok, and a coach at Boston College and Wellesley College I offer a lifetime of experiences as an athlete, coach, and mentor for track and field and cross country athletes from beginner to elite levels. As an athlete, I was a seven-time Division 1 All-American, a National Champion, Team medalist in the World Cross Country Championships a DMR World record holder, and a current collegiate record holder and a fifth-place finish in the Olympic Trials. I know from experience that the road is never easy so it helps to have people on your team who can guide and support you along the way. Every athlete has their own unique journey.

A lifetime of Coaching Experience

All levels from beginner to elite

I have coached a fourth-place-podium finish NCAA Division I Cross Country team, Big East Championship Cross Country team, and an NCAA Division I champion as well as high school state champions and runners who simply just want to run faster. In fact, as a high school freshman in P.E. class, my goal was to just finish the assignment of four laps around the track when I had to run a timed mile in class. Less than four years later, I was a national champion in that same distance. However, as a freshman, I remember how proud I was that day to finish the entire mile -regardless of the time it took. I was just as proud as the day I won a high school national title. Relatability to the various levels in this sport is key to having athletes achieve their goals. I also coach a USATF certified track club and I am a program developer and coach for recreational programs, and an independent college consultant I bring my expertise to meet your individual needs as you start this journey in a hunt for the best college program for you. Whether it is a training program, college consulting, or all of the above,

I'm here to help!

The best intentions sometimes fall short without the proper planning. As the old adage goes, If you fail to plan you plan to fail. Working with an industry expert, someone who has seen all sides as an NCAA coach, student-athlete, and parent has an understanding of all perspectives. It can be a daunting and intimidating experience without a proper support system that will strategize, plan and collaborate with you and your family throughout the process. There are many great schools with great track and field and cross country programs in the country but finding the right school with the right program for you as a whole person is key to reaching your goals.

Building Relationships

It takes time to build relationships. However, it's not just about the time you put in, rather it could be about the timing of and the quality of dialogue that you are making with coaches. Face to face is usually the best way to get to know someone but time is of the essence so strategizing your attempts is necessary for the best outcome.

Job Interview

Quality- Not quantity of contacts

Learn the best way to develop relationships with a college coach. It's not a race to see who sends out the first email or to those who send out the most emails or fill out the most questionnaires. It's about the quality of each contact and the timing of such.

The Business Side

It's very important to understand the business side of the sport. Let's face it, the faster you run, the more opportunities you will have. Colleges have roster and scholarship limits and coaches need to figure out where you could possibly fit in and contribute to the program. However, it's not just about the numbers sometimes but it's up to you to figure this out. While it can be difficult, it is critical to concentrate on your training and racing schedule without stressing too much about your future. Maximize your chances for success while you are still in high school.  It's not over until it's over. Not taking things personally in this process will give you the strength to seamlessly move on when needed.
Sometimes the best fit is not what you would expect. Your recruiting journey may be very different from someone else's.

FAFSA and CSS profile

The new government changes to the FAFSA (starting in 2023-2024 applications) can impact your financial aid package. Be knowledgeable of the way in which FAFSA and CSS profiles determine financial need and how it impacts your

family. FAFSA will soon eliminate families' Expected Family Contribution (EFC) calculation and replace it with Student

Aid Index (SAI).

Training plans to perform better

To reach your goals in this sport you have to have clear and definitive plans. Don't leave things to chance. Even if you are a three-season runner for your high school there is time to either enhance your regime or fill in the gaps. The faster you run, the more opportunities you will have.

College essay support

This is your chance to shine. At many elite schools, your GPA, extracurriculars, and standardized test scores will be one amongst the many but an entertaining, interesting, and well-written essay is an opportunity to illustrate creativity and ability to communicate to admissions what kind of person you are. Do not fall into the typical traps of personal essay writing. Brainstorming and having another set of ears and eyes will ensure that your essay will shine amongst the rest.

Strategize

Before you embark on the college recruitment process it is wise to collaborate with an expert to strategize and plan. A proper strategy will help maximize your time spent on the recruiting process, help you feel like you are not alone, and ensure that you will have the best options possible to choose from when the time comes. Furthermore, by reducing some of the stress involved you will have a more pleasant senior year to finish out your high school career.
